Neverland: Regenerating pancreatic islets

Diabetes scientific research has made many advancements during last several years, by using brand new and advanced technologies not completely known to the general public. We propose to open our diabetes research laboratory in order to present the scientific tools actually used to deeply understand the molecular basis of diabetes pathogenesis. Moreover, we will meet general public in our outlab stand in which children and adult can play to re-construct the architecture of pancreatic islets while learning the basis of diabetes pathogenesis. Interactive presentations of our research lines will be also reported during the entire event.

Umberto di Mario Research Foundation is focused on the research about Diabetes mellitus pathogenesis. Visitors will be guided throughout the research methods applied to study such pathology, especially by analyzing pancreatic islets architecture using fluorescence microscopy.


A tutta birra - la birra in diretta (BeerBone Project)

The project nutraceutical "BeerBone" (funded by Regione Toscana EU funds) is disclosed through the preparation of live beer, by using glass laboratory instruments (therefore transparent). Also will be exposed 3/4 posters describing the project in a simple manner ( the beer is good for bones ) and will be run at constant 6 different story-telling video.

A continuation of the projects on native yeasts for the protection of the Tuscan DOCG wines and "The Wine Educated", will be given two experiences for children. 1) Fermentation of yeast that are inflating balloons; 2) olfactory tasting of wine aromas; the olfactory tasting will be to riddle.
